•        Absolutely I learnt more about reading,thinking and writing.But this week I paid more attention on Cultural Identity Poster.You know,different country have their own unique culture,such as China`s Spring Festival,England traditional food,Thailand traditional clothes and so on.After that,I made a poster which identity who I was.I researched our flag,map,traditional food ,festival,clothes and construction.I discussed with my classmates and found their posters are all interesting.In addition,I wrote a text about this beautiful culture.After I saw amount of posters,I learnt more about different culture.
•       My Aha moment was when I read PACKING FOR AMERICA,I found a new word “machete”.I did not know what`s the meaning of it.But after I read the sentence“No one will crash through our door with gun or machete "again,I thought that would be a tool which was similar as “gun”.Actually when I checked dictionary, I knew this is a big knife.I was right!
•      The essence of this unit is introduce the culture and define American.
•      I did not know that how to be a good reader before I started this class.But now I get the idea.Firstly is skimming which you need to read rapidly to find specific in formation and details.Secondly is scanning which means read shorter texts for detailed information with an emphasis on precise understanding.Thirdly is intensive reading that means read longer texts,often for pleasure and for an overall understanding.Finally is extensive reading that means read rapidly to get the main oints or main ideas.That is so helpful for me to read the book.

So, I make a unique and interesting poster which shows variety of culture, such as my country`s flag, map, traditional food, and important festival. The first photo is my country`s flag. The flag is in red color with five yellow stars. The red color symbolizes the spirit of revolution, and the five stars signify the unity of the people under the leadership of Communist Party. After that is the map of my country. See, it is interesting that it looks like a rooster. Next, I will introduce our traditional food which called dumpling and hot pot. Dumpling is a very famous food in my country which made by flour, vegetable, meat, or seafood. You can boil them, bake them, or fry them. It is very delicious! Hot pot also is a good taste and famous food which I really introduce you to have it in winter. You always feel comfortable when you have hot pot in a cold day. It keeps you warm. You can put whatever you want in this pot and choose different soup, such as spicy soup, bone soup or mushroom soup. I really like the spicy one! Finally, I want to introduce our most important festival which called Spring Festival. Before festival we always tidy up our house to guarantee it clean and clear. In the morning, we put on the couplets and happiness. Actually, we put the word “Happiness” upside down on the door mistakenly, which means “happiness is coming” because the word “upside down” is in the same pronounciation of “coming” in Chinese. And then we prepare sumptuous meal and in the evening, a part of family members will go outside and set off fireworks. After that, do you have an idea about where I come from? And which part place I am from? I just list four points which can represent who I am. If you are interested in this picture, I introduce you go and visit this beautiful place.
